We are well into 2018 and summer is just around the corner. By now you should either be feeling great about the way your year is going and your future outlook OR you are dreadfully looking back over the last 5 months and asking yourself how everything went so wrong again!
Either way, problems and stress are guaranteed to pop up in your future. And the same as in the past; how you choose to respond to it will make the difference in how the next 6 months go…
So here’s the thing…you are probably doing it all wrong! Yeah, I said it, you are probably using stress the wrong way. Because stress can and should be a signal that tells you to stop doing something or adjust what you are doing. But it’s not designed to ruin your life and it is not there just to hamper your health and ultimately take you down!
Stress is actually a brilliant tool that your mind and body use to tell you; warn you; signal you to change. Change what you are doing or how you are doing it. Change where or when but it’s telling you it’s time for something to change.
And how often do you find yourself stressing; I mean really stressing over something that doesn’t really matter at all? Be honest. We all do it. We get upset at things like losing the tv remote or because someone moved our favorite coffee mug or took your parking space. And what does all that frustration and energy get you in the end? More frustration and less energy.
We tend to stress a lot when we are out of our comfort zone and when we are not getting the results that we worked so hard to get. In Mark Manson‘s book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F, he explains the difference between indifference (not caring at all) and not giving a F*CK. And he guides you to a new form of clarity on what you are doing wrong that’s hurting you mentally, physically and emotionally.
I enjoyed reading this book a great deal and I highly suggest that everyone reads it. It doesn’t matter if you are an entrepreneur or a stay at home parent, this book grabs you by the shoulders and gives you a nice shake that wakes you up from the mind-numbing stress you have been facing and then it shines a light down the path you should be taking…
It’s like I always say, “If I can wake up with a smile on my face, excited about what the day holds and I can lay my head on my pillow at night feeling fulfilled by the actions I took, then I am a success!” Give Mark’s book a read and I am sure you will not only be happy that you did but you will find a powerful clarity on how to execute your life better and a confidence that will carry you through.
